For devoted trekkers, Cynthia Bennett and her boyfriend, their furry fairytale all started when they decided to adopt a dog in 2014. They both were quite sure to select a golden retriever mix but that all changed when they met a different little bundle of joy at a pet adoption event.
Bennett spotted an adorable puppy who was just 14 weeks old but was approximately five times in size compared to the puppies of the same age. It was in that moment when she first saw Henry that she knew he was the dog for them. He immediately jumped up into Bennett’s lap rubbing his head under her hand. This was proof enough to realize Henry had found his forever home.
In an interview with The Dodo, Bennett said, “Henry found the steepest, tallest rock around, and he ran up to the top of it to look over the edge.” To their surprise, Henry always discovered the steepest climbs and running to the top to gaze over the horizon. This incident amazed the couple, and they started addressing him as “the little mountain goat.”
Recently the couple planned to add another addition to their family. They decided to adopt a rescue kitten! Finding a rescue kitten was a daunting task for both, but eventually, after five months on the hunt, they at last found a Siamese kitten mix who they decided to name Baloo.
Baloo was introduced to Henry, and he couldn’t resist falling in love with him. The little kitten adores spending time playing with Henry, and both were found cuddling and wandering together.
Now Baloo is a part of their hiking trips. According to Bennett, “I get a lot of questions about how we got him used to it. But he loves it. He really wants to go outside.”
